Our talk on Tuesday 15th February was given by Pauline, the sales manager for Dalefoot Composts. We were interested to learn that the company had started 25 years ago on a hill farm between Carlisle and Penrith. Their composts are all organic and the main ingredients are undipped sheep wool, bracken and comfrey. Pauline took us through the process, which took 3 months to complete, and also explained how the company was helping to restore peat bogs in a bid to help stem carbon emissions.
